Pandora sits on the corner of Roux and Murray Streets, a short turn off the N6 through Rouxville. You are not driving twenty minutes into the veld to get here. Come off the main road, two turns, and you are parked.

An Ideal N6 Stopover Between Gauteng and the Eastern Cape

Rouxville sits on the N6 where the Free State, the Eastern Cape, the Karoo and Lesotho meet, roughly halfway between Gauteng and the coast. Smithfield is 40 km up the road, Aliwal North and Zastron are both 36 km away, and Bloemfontein is about two hours north.

That makes this a natural place to break the drive rather than a detour that costs you daylight. Pull in before dark, braai, sleep properly, and be back on the N6 in the morning.

What Is Around Rouxville

Rouxville is a sandstone town on the borderlands of four regions, which is what makes it useful. The scenic Maluti Route runs from here into the mountains. Head south and you are into the Eastern Cape and the Wild Coast at Morgans Bay, Kei Mouth and Haga Haga. Head east and Rhodes, Hogsback and the Transkei are within a morning’s drive. Lesotho and Basotho land sit on the doorstep.

Closer in there are country churches, windmills and back roads that most travellers never see, and the town looks different in every season. If you are heading off the beaten track, call us. We know which of those roads are worth the tyres.
